- Letter from the Chairman of the Tung Wah Hospital in Hong Kong to the CCBA stating that the shipment has arrived. English translation: (Red line of letters on top of page) Tung Wah Hospitals of Hong Kong exclusive letter. (Read from left to right, top to bottom) To Whom It May Concern: Originating from your association, we have received Hong Kong dollars $17,000, the bodies of the deceased Chinese immigrants, and the list of names for them from, delivered by the two shipping companies: Great China [China Tradeways?] and Civil Living[?]. There were 93 cases of bodies shipped here from the United States. These cases are currently stored at the Nine Dragons Warehouse. We have sent personnel from our hospitals to retrieve these bodies, as according to procedures. However, we cannot retrieve these bodies quickly enough for the duration of rent for the warehouse space paid for by your payments. Therefore, the extra costs will be added to your association’s unpaid balance. Please forgive us, but before these dues are paid for, the process of burying the deceased will be difficult to continue. Please advise us swiftly.
