- Description
- Russia has a huge population thinly distributed over a vast area of the country. About 83% of all the people are engaged in agriculture and are of the peasant class. They form the backbone of the country. Under the Czar they were virtual slaves, farming land owned by the Grand Dukes. Today, probably not one Russian in a hundred knows what Communism means, but he does know that he has land. Illiterate, living under hard climatic conditions, but with great physical vitality and an ambition to improve life, the Russians are now going through a fundamental upheaval. And a new era is coming, about which no accurate conclusions can yet be made.
