  • Nancy Dewey was an alumna and a corporal in the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps who served as a cook for a WAC detachment in New Guinea during World War II. She was later employed by the State Department and stationed in Iran, among other locations.

  • "In a setting worthy of a South Sea Island extravaganza, T/5 Nancy Dewey, Portland, Oregon, looks out across the ocean towards home. She is on duty at an Army Forces in the Western Pacific base at Biak, Netherlands East Indies. T/5 Dewey, daughter of Mrs. Evelyn Dewey, 2155 N.E. 20th, Portland, was formerly employed by the First National Bank of Portland. She attended Oregon State College and was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She is Presbyterian."
