Description
  • An outside photograph of a Native American man posing in front of a plain blanket backdrop. He is kneeling on his right knee, with a round flat coiled cedar root mat just behind him. To the right of the backdrop is a wooden walkway. In the background are hazy outlines of buildings. He is holding a hand drum in his left hand and a drumstick in his right hand. The drum is decorated with a zigzag pattern around its circumference, surrounding a single moon and star. He is wearing a headdress that extends fully to the ground, a bonnet with a single trail of eagle feathers and plumes. He has a deep scar on his right cheek and is wearing a necklace of animal claws. He is wearing a beaded buckskin shirt with decorative, beaded hangings across the front. The bottom of his shirt is fringed and overlays a garment of striped cloth. He is also wearing buckskin leggings and beaded moccasins. A hatchet-style pipe is leaning on his left leg. A beaded bag with geometric design is hanging from his right wrist.
