- Abigail Scott Duniway (1834-1915) moved to Oregon from Illinois in 1852 with her family on the Oregon Trail and kept a detailed journal of their travels. Duniway was later a key leader of the Woman's Suffrage Movement in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, and she aided the national effort. The Abigail Scott Duniway papers (1982-1992) contain her correspondence, published and unpublished literary works, documents pertaining to the suffrage movement, and a considerable amount of newspaper clippings reporting on Duniway's political and social work.
