| Description | Photo was published in the March 1962 issue of the Oregon Stater, page 13. Ira pitched from 1961-63, and was an All-American the latter two years. He signed with the Chicago Whitesox and played minor league baseball. Ira was elected to the Oregon State Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991. Ira's coach at Portland's Franklin high school was Gene Tanselli, who played baseball for OSU from 1949-1951. Tanselli succeeded Ralph Coleman at OSU, coaching the Beaver baseballers from 1967-1972. |
