Quotation from Ellis Lawrence Building Survey: H .A . Conner was the manager of the Pacific Coast Syrup Co . In 1924 the house was purchased by the Taron family and has since remained under their ownership. The house is significant for being awarded one of the most notable small houses of 1919 by the Oregon Chapter of the A .I .A . It was subsequently published in the House Beautiful magazin . Shortly after it was built the house was published in the Pacific Coast Architect and the Portland Architectural Club magazines . It is one of two of Lawrence's most published designs. The house appears deceivingly simple . Upon close examination it bears the finely crafted details for which Lawrence is known.
