Head of Buttermere
Head of Buttermere
Image TitleHead of Buttermere
Description/Notes"Buttermere and Crummock's are sister lakes lying in the mountains a few miles southwest of Derwentwater. Probably in early ages they formed one long lake. They are now joined by a small steam banked by narrow, low lands. This picture shows the upper end of Buttermere, the mountains rising from these shores are among the loftiest in the lake country."
