Bug Collecting vehicle
Image TitleBug Collecting vehicle
Date1938-00-00
Description/NotesBugs collecting on the windshield gave entomologists at Oregon State College an idea that they turned to scientific advantage. J. C. Chamberlin, federal entomologist, rigged up the funnel shaped screen to his official car and attached a little bag on the back of it. After driving a few miles he could collect enough bugs to tell which field pests had emerged and were flying at the time in any given district. Kenneth Gray, state experiment station entomologist, is shown examining the device.
