| Description/Notes | People gather to hear legislators near Madison and 9th Streets. The State Legislature arrived in Corvallis to inspect Oregon Agricultural College. The State Legislature visited the college on a regular basis in the early part of the century, usually at the beginning of the legislative session. The photograph shows the legislators disembarking from their train at 9th Street and Madison. The college President and Board of Regents would meet the legislators and conduct them up the central walk through lower campus to the Main Building (Benton Hall). The day's events would include a military review and parade, inspections of campus buildings, lunch at the Home Economics Building (Milam Hall), a convocation at the Men's Gymnasium (Langton Hall), more building inspections and an evening banquet. |
