| General Notes | An outside photograph of a Native American man posing in front of a plain blanket backdrop. He is kneeling on his right knee, with a round flat coiled cedar root mat just behind him. To the right of the backdrop is a wooden walkway. In the background are hazy outlines of buildings. He is holding a hand drum in his left hand and a drumstick in his right hand. The drum is decorated with a zigzag pattern around its circumference, surrounding a single moon and star. He is wearing a headdress that extends fully to the ground, a bonnet with a single trail of eagle feathers and plumes. He has a deep scar on his right cheek and is wearing a necklace of animal claws. He is wearing a beaded buckskin shirt with decorative, beaded hangings across the front. The bottom of his shirt is fringed and overlays a garment of striped cloth. He is also wearing buckskin leggings and beaded moccasins. A hatchet-style pipe is leaning on his left leg. A beaded bag with geometric design is hanging from his right wrist. |

On the Hand Drum is a painting of a Moon and a Star. He is wearing a Bonnet with a single trail full of eagle feathers and plumes. He is wearing a beaded buckskin shirt with pieces of hair hanging on the edge of the bead work. Leaning on his left leg is a hatchet style pipe that is beaded also. On his right wrist is a beaded bag. There is a coiled Cedar Root Mat just behind him on the grass. There is a blanket on a wooden frame for a backdrop. On the left side of the photograph is a wooden walk way. Writing on the photograph is "Cultus George Moorhouse" and in the bottom left corner are the numbers "4238." |
