General NotesA Native American baby, identified as Spokane Jim's papoose, is in a beaded cradleboard that is positioned upright and leaning against a mat covered by a blanket. Two bags hang from the cradleboard, which has a floral motif. One of the bags also has a floral motif and the other includes an image of a person and a horse.
TCI NotesAn outside photograph of a child in beaded cradleboard leaning on a Tule mat tipi. The child has been identified as Spokane Jim's child by the photographer. The child and the board are leaning on a partially seen Tule mat tipi. There is a wool blanket between the cradleboard and the Tule mat tipi. The child and the board are sitting on a Tule mat that is on the ground. There are two beaded bags on both sides of the child's head. One is a man and a horse and the other one is a floral design. The sun was out that day and the photographer shot with the sun at his back. He had a couple of people hold a blanket up to shade the child and part of the tipi. Their shadows can be seen on the tipi. Writing on the photograph is "Spokane Jim's Papoose Maj. Moorhouse."
