| General Notes | A Native American man identified as Yellow Hawk sits on a white horse in a muddy field. He is holding a long feathered lance in his left hand and the horse's reins in his right hand. He is wearing a feathered headdress and he is wrapped in a long buffalo robe. Underneath the buffalo robe is a blanket with a geometric design. Yellow Hawk is wearing a pair of moccasins. His horse is wearing a breastplate appliqued with a large star and flowers. |
| TCI Notes | An outside photograph of many men in regalia on horses in a parade at the Pendleton Round-Up. The man sitting on a horse in the center of the photograph has been identified by the photographer as Yellow Hawk. He is wearing a Plains Style Bonnet. In his right hand he is holding a Rifle Scabbard and the reins. In his left hand is an Eagle Feather Staff. Around his right shoulder is a hide of some kind that drapes down over on the back of the horse also. He is wearing cloth legging and beaded moccasins. The horse has on a martingale that has a floral design down the side and one star that is showing on the front of the martingale. In the background are many other men sitting and standing next to horses. The image is a little out of focus. Second production tiff saved, retaining adjustments layers. Photoshop used to convert color profie from Adobe 1998, to sRGB, set resoltuion to 125 dpi and resize the largest pixel dimension of the image to 875. Display jpeg saved after resizing. |
